"Deerhorn Valley" is actually a group of valleys, flats, or areas, that over time seem to have settled under an umbrella named Deerhorn. Kim and a few DV neighbors are working on a history of Deerhorn Valley and we'll soon publish their findings in our DV Journal found here on our webpage.

The area shown here is actually called Bratton Valley on the maps. Charles Bratton moved here to raise cattle. He build his small wood home just in front of Bratton Peak we show here. The house was lost in the last fire.

The name "Deerhorn" was assigned to Deerhorn Flat, at the top of the Deerhorn Valley 1 mile grade, to the left and out of this picture. It is said that two deer hunters found a pair of skeletonized bucks, antlers entangled from conflict. The hunters placed the antlers in a tree "V" and refered to their marked place as the Deerhorn flat. –Rob D
