Deerhorn Valley Wildflower Gallery This is the start of our Deerhorn Wildflower Gallery. All photos must be taken here in the Deerhorn Valley area, and we invite, encourage, and beg for your help in recording and identifying what is flowering on our hillsides and in our valleys. Since the Harris Fire our chaparral and oak woodland are coming back. Fire-follower wildflowers help set the stage for later growth of manzanita, ceanothus, oak and other larger plants, and Spring 2010 has the most incredible wildflower display I have ever seen. Please send your photos, or help identify what we post here. Include a quick note about where you found each specimen. We'll be adding new pages, and I'll soon post some of the best online sites for identification. - Kim <rob-kim@deerhornvalley.net> Here are two of the best online resources I am using for identification (and I still get confused!): CalFlora San Diego Plant Atlas A search of the San Diego Plant Atlas produces this list of plants identified in the area of Mother Grundy Peak. |
